The Second Annual Music Industry Conference, MmX hosted by the Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, will be held this Saturday, May 9th, via Zoom. https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_EYFNBOZBTca6Nw4erRimuA
Hear from legendary music players and industry veterans including the Cure‘s Lol Tolhurst, Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe, Pigface’s Martin Atkins, and many more.
Due to the pandemic and social distancing, the industry conference will be held through Zoom—register for free to learn and interact with this fantastic panel.
Martin Atkins, artist, organizer, moderator, and speaker, said about the upcoming webinar: “I think that famous quote ‘the show must go on’ is pretty stupid really and leads to artists overextending themselves, injury, and mental anguish, however, the show does have to go on. I’m proud of the job the students are doing not just for the community but for the artists, themselves, and the program itself. If there’s one thing I’ve had to do in the last 40 years its certainly pivot pivot pivot, and we are experiencing and confirming that.”
Martin Atkins’ talk, entitled “Art and Entrepreneurship In A Time Of Crisis,” will address the pandemic, its impact on the music industry, and how to successfully navigate this time. Atkins is the founder of the revolving rock band, Pigface, and the former drummer for Ministry and the groundbreaking Lydon-fronted post-punk heavyweights, P.I.L.
Randy Blythe, vocalist thrash metal titans, Lamb Of God, will be speaking about the topic of maintaining sobriety during a pandemic.
Lol Tolhurst, the former drummer and a founding member of the legendary UK band, The Cure, will be speaking about his time in the band and his book “Cured.”
Gaelynn Lea an independent artist, will be discussing touring, accessibility, and other issues facing independent bands.
