St Louis is fortunate enough to see one of the most influential bands in alternative music, The Pixies, return for a highly-anticipated show on October 14th at the intimate confines of the Peabody Opera House.
Featuring a brand new stage, new lighting, and best of all, a different set list every night, The Pixies’ show is going to be filled with surprises and spontaneity. The band has rehearsed 90 different songs and head Pixie, Black Francis, will decide at the spur of the moment, what tune they will perform. Even his bandmates won’t know the next song until Black calls it. From 1988’s Surfer Rosa to 2016’s Head Carrier, and everything in between, fans can expect the unexpected.
Bands come and go, but the Pixies always endure, Critics and some finicky fans have dismissed the Pixies last two outings—Indie Cindy (2014) and last years’ Head Carrier, but both are solid, great albums with material as compelling as Surfer Rosa or Doolittle.
The Pixies is one of those must-see bands and requisite concerts. Don’t be the guy or gal that never sees one of the most important bands in music. David Bowie loved them. Nirvana revered them.
